  Our Teacher

  Rob Wendel

About the teacher

Rob Wendel was destined to become a lifelong musician. His father played trumpet in his paternal grandfather’s big band orchestra, and his maternal grandmother played piano for silent films! He received a Bachelor of Music Education from Susquehanna University in PA, and attended North Texas State University for another two years, majoring in composition.

Rob began his teaching career in undergrad school, and has been active in education for the last 40 years, experienced in private and class instruction for piano and keyboards. He has hosted seminars for teachers on a wide range of educational and motivational topics.

Mr. Wendel has performed throughout his entire life, from bands to choir to theatre, most

recently as pianist at Encore Lounge and Club Café in Boston, and Front Porch in Ogunquit.

Other musical projects include directing/arranging/playing keyboard for the well-received

Broadway 25 revues (highlighting Broadway music from the last 25 years), and pop revues for local entertainer, Steven SanSoucie. Rob is very supportive of live music performances!

He loves to compose and arrange supplemental music his for students, and has written an introductory piano class course for both children and adults. He encourages all students to explore classics to contemporary, and integrates music technology in traditional pedagogy. He'll be the first to let students check under the hood to see how an acoustic piano works, and to show them how to use the features of a digital piano!
